Golden Retrievers

Grooming

Golden retriever’s double coat should be weekly shampooed and brushed. After the golden retriever’s double coat is shampooed and brushed it should be completely dry. It should be dry because if it isn’t your golden retriever is going to have dried skin. If you don’t give your golden retriever a bath it might get fleas or other sicknesses. If I were you I would give my golden retriever a bath every Wednesday, Friday, and Saturday.

Health, Exercise, and Care

Health, exercise, and care are very important to golden retrievers but don’t think it isn’t important to other dogs too. Your golden retriever needs at least 2 hours a day of exercise. Your golden retriever also needs to go to the pool too. Golden retriever LOVE water. Golden retrievers can live up to 10-13 years old. Some golden retrievers live under 10 years old if you don’t take care of them.

Toys and Food

Toys and food is very expensive. They can be $5, $10, $15, and $20. It depends what kind of toy it is. If your dog is a chewer and then his favorite toy disappears immediately call the vet. Do not buy toys with fur or squeakers that can be swallowed. If you’re looking for food it cost $3.00 if it is in a can. If it is in a big bag it is $10.00 up.

History

Did you know that golden retrievers are from Scotland? They were hunting dogs. Say if you just caught a bird out in the middle of the lake, golden retrievers would get the bird for you. Most of the golden retrievers that are show dogs are not hunting dogs. I sure didn’t know that. You learn something knew everyday.

Veterinarian

If your dog ever gets sick call the vet. Your dog heart beat should be 90- 100 beats per minute. Your golden retriever should have black smooth nose. Your golden retriever should not have a crusted or cracked. A dry, warm, wet, or cold nose does not determine if your golden has a good or bad health.

Labrador Retrievers

Did you know that Labrador Retrievers didn’t come
from Labrador, but they came from Newfoundland? Did
you know how Labrador Retrievers got their name? They
got their name by being one of the several breeds of
hunting dogs. Don’t you think that’s cool? They are also a
breed used to gunfire. That’s what I learned about how they
got their name.

These dogs are good for many things. But I’m going
to tell you about how to feed and care for your Labrador
Retriever. First I will tell you about food for your Labrador
Retriever. I learned Labrador Retrievers do not need expensive food. I also learned you should not feed your
Labrador of your plate. The book I read that from also
states rich human foods can upset your dog’s stomach.
That is what I learned you should feed your dog.

Next I will tell you about grooming your dog. I
learned Labradors have medium hair that does not get very
tangled. I would recommend a normal dog brush, but get
bigger sizes each year because your dog will get very big. I
learned that the kind of brush you will need is a tall brush.
That is what I learned in grooming your dog.

Finally I will tell you about vet care. I learned you
want to get your dog some shots. I learned the cost for the
shots are about $75 and $145. I learned some owners
might want to get their dog spayed or neutered. Getting
your dog spayed or neutered is to avoid pregnancy. These
dogs rock!

Golden Retrievers

Hi! My name is Arthur and I’m here to tell you about the second most popular dog in the whole wide world. It’s a Golden Retriever! But, do you know why I’m really doing this? Cause, if I do really well on this, my parents may get me a Golden Retriever!
First of all, Golden Retrievers need a lot of grooming. You should use a Spornette Oval Porcupine Bristle Brush. Their hair is very long so you should brush the Golden Retriever once a week. You groom them for health, not appearance. That way they will not get an itchy nose. They won’t sneeze either.
Secondly, Golden Retrievers need at least one shot per year. They should use a shot such as Duramune Max 5 – CVK. But you must buy a syringe before you can give shots! They need to take pills such as Interceptor to stop heartworm diseases. If you want to prevent flea and tick, you should use Frontline Spray.
Third, they need different types of food. Life’s Abundance is good for puppies and adults. Puppies can also eat soak and warm gruel. I wonder if it tastes good. Golden Retrievers should eat the food the veterinarian says when they are sick.
Fourth, they have a BIG appetite. (Like me!) You need too feed them a lot. But please don’t feed them till they explode! Please oh please!
Fifth, they require exercise daily. Because of the big appetite, please don’t be lazy and ignore it. If you don’t walk it will not be healthy for the Golden Retriever. They will be very fat. (Since I eat a lot and don’t exercise very much, I wonder if I am in good shape. Maybe, I should walk a little everyday)
Sixth, a very important rule, LOVE YOUR GOLDEN RETRIEVER! Golden Retrievers deserve to be loved, not ignored! What kind of dogs wants to be ignored! They make you happy so make them to!
Seventh, Golden Retrievers do shed. They especially do a lot of shedding in the summer. If you have allergy, you should get prepared. So get ready to clean up lots of fur!
Eighth, the dog needs tons of shade to cool of. If they don’t, they’ll overheat. Then they will sweat a lot. (Especially when its summer time! Because it’s really hot, right?) Since it’s hot in the summer, they probably need a gigantic tree with light and cool breezes. That should be very comfortable.
Wellll, mom so how bout it? Huh? Huh? Oh pleaseeeeeee. I’ll do anything! ANYTHING! Oh. Really! When? What! 1000 years! What! Mannnnn. I hate it when life ain’t fair. Yeah! Well I’m always right! You think 0 goldfishes are enough already!

Beagles
Hi my name is Jennifer. I’m here to tell you about the beagle’s name, food, and the love and the attention. If you want to know these cool facts read my report!
First, I’m going to tell you about the beagle’s name. Its name is made from French words. In France you spell it like Be`gueule. The word beag in beagle means small.
Next, is all about the food. The food you feed your beagle should be fresh for its health. Some quality ingredients are better than the others. If you cook their meal, it would be less expensive than the ones in stores.
Then, if their not clean they’ll be mean. You should check and clean their ears once a week. Once a week, you should wash their bed and vacuum your house. Every other day is the time to wash their teeth, but you should watch out because their teeth are sharp!
Finally, beagles need lots of love and attention. They really like long walks. You should have a big yard because they have tons of energy and can run up to forty miles per hour! Beagles cannot be left alone because then they’ll bark like crazy!
Well, I hope that you know that you should remember these cool facts. If you have a different breed of dog you might think it’s the best breed of all dogs, but I’m telling you, I think beagles are best! If you are wondering why I like beagles the most is because I used to have a beagle of my own and boy was it cute!!! Uh oh, I have to go because my beagle is lonely.

Beagles

Do you know Snoopy is a Beagle dog? Beagles are about medium size dogs. The approximate size for a male dog is 20 – 25 pounds and female dogs weight about 20 – 23 pounds. The male dog height is about 14” -16” at shoulder and the females are about 13” to 15” at shoulder. The beagles have short hair and can be any mix of colors, but the usual colors are white, brown and black.
Beagles used to be hunting dogs. Some beagles are still used to hunt rabbits and ducks. However, most people now have beagles are home pets. They enjoy exercising and being around people. They have good temperament and are good with children. The cost of a Beagle puppy in California can range between $350.00 up to $500.00. The females are normally a little bit more expensive because they can have puppies when they grow older.
` Beagles like to eat a lot. That is why you need to measure the food or they can become overweight. If the Beagle does not want to eat, you should take it to the vet. The main diet for a Beagle is dry food. You can feed them once or twice a day but they same amount of food.
You almost never have to bathe your beagle with water. You can use a dry shampoo and towel to keep him smelling good. But you can use water and mild soap if he or she smells pretty bad. When you are done you have to blow dry the hair until is totally dry. Then you have to brush the hair with a soft brush for puppies and firm bristle brush for adults. You have to clean their teeth with a brush and tooth paste every week. You also have to keep their hair short.
Some Beagles can suffer from heart, eye and back problems. They can also have problems that are inherited like having twisted legs and other conditions. It is important to take them often to the vet to give them their shots for rabies and medicine for parasites. It is necessary to check your beagle for ticks and fleas because they are outside dogs. The vet can give them medication and you can buy sprays, powder and collars to avoid fleas. The medicine for parasites costs about $25 for a month supply and for ticks and fleas is about $50.00 for a three month supply.
Beagles are outdoor dogs; they used to hunt so they like to run, fetch toys and be outside. To keep Beagles happy you have to play with them often and take them to walks every day. To keep their teeth healthy you have to give them chewing bone toys. When picking the best one you need to be careful because pieces can come loose and can choke your Beagle and he or she can die. The best toy bone is Roar-hide brand. It reduces plaque and tartar building up on the beagle’s teeth and it is safe for them to chew on.
I learned that Beagles are fun to have and they can be the best pet if you have the time to take care of it. I also learned that a beagle can run fast, up to 40 MPH. They are also very smart and friendly dogs such as snoopy in the cartoon. I am planning on having a Beagle because they seem fun. After this report I learned a lot about beagle and I could take care of a beagle.
